I guess what helped me was taking the H2 antihistamine - Pepcid "All in One", twice a day.

I found that I had the most pain about a week after I stopped cold turkey. I was not taking the Pepcid all in one at the time. I found that the foods I ate also effected the pain level.

My general practice doctor started me on the 40mg Nexium for my increased burping and discomfort after meals. I later saw a Gastro doctor and he only told me to take the Pepcid or Gavascon 30 minutes before meals.Jeffhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08354580663577175610noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8489367258569570619.post-86865279096534636192021-05-08T08:46:52.498-07:002021-05-08T08:46:52.498-07:00Also following weaning off has anyone experienced ...Also following weaning off has anyone experienced sore throstAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09081914654115793229noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8489367258569570619.post-17288078921875219942021-05-06T08:21:32.303-07:002021-05-06T08:21:32.303-07:00Hi how did you start tge weaning off ie 2 tabs ev...Hi how did you start tge weaning off ie 2 tabs every day for how many weeks and then 1 pill a week...every day or justc1 day per week and for how many weeks...when did you start to come off

My doctor prescribed 20mg every day...18 months later..told me to up to 40mg a day as severe sore throat!

Endoscopy done several times nothing sinister found thank god just a little acid reflux

I too get breathless at times usually when I burp

I feel that these are given out easily and ironically over the phone not being able to see a real doctor during covid hS been a nightmare

Just want to come off them as feel they are poisoning me and doing more harm than goodAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09081914654115793229noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8489367258569570619.post-45166332829149219082020-12-21T18:19:37.923-08:002020-12-21T18:19:37.923-08:00Hi all. Was initially prescribed due to a sudden gastro/acid flare up & after an endoscopy they said a hiatal hernia....Fast forward..concerned for my bones & future health I'm weaning myself off. (same gastro that put me on it said YES! time to go off it)..I also lost about 20 pounds before I decided to wean. I am now down to 2 pills a week for the remainder of dec & plan on doing 1 pill a week for a few weeks in Jan. My body was not happy once I tapered down to 3 a week & started to rebel by over producing acid. (thankful for gavascon chewables) This drug is no joke to go off of, I think they greatly underestimate the terrible side effects because its not considered an opioid. I will be looking into some of these alternative solutions for comfort & survival....I'm determined to get healthy in these covid quarantine times! Stay strong everyone! We can do it!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12239711244158382936noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8489367258569570619.post-78170506278358854312020-11-20T20:14:20.731-08:002020-11-20T20:14:20.731-08:00Has anyone had a success story?

I started out on 20mg Omeprozole about 20 years ago when diagnosed with acid reflux. I stayed on it most of the time but would stop for 8 weeks and then get back on it as I had gerd symptoms again. I was having stomach issues over the last couple years so my doctor upped the dose to 40mg daily. I have been on that for the last 2-3 years. Turned out part of the problem was my failing gallbladder which I got removed last January. I have stayed on the omeprozole though. Anyway, after hearing about the possible side effects of being on this drug and that I never have heart burn, I decided to quit it. Cold turkey. I was fine for 2 straight weeks. No issue what so ever. Then bam! I started getting brain fog and dizziness, heart palps, an extreme feeling of fullness and heaviness from my stomach to my throat, anxiety, blurred vision at times, nausea, upset stomach, occasional stomach pain, the feeling that I can't get a deep breath, and sweaty palms. I know my heart and lungs are good so I am attributing all of this to the withdrawal. It's pretty miserable. After 3 days of this getting increasingly worse, I started the meds back up. I have been on them for 3 days again, but still have the withdrawal symptoms. I am hoping once it gets built up in my system again, these symptoms will go away. Once I get back to feeling normal again, I am going to try and VERY slowly taper the dosage down and see if I can get off of this. Hope this helps. These posts eased my worry a bit about what I have been going through.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13341835680621043809noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8489367258569570619.post-3517853628493497432020-09-28T07:48:57.032-07:002020-09-28T07:48:57.032-07:00Hi all..... I was prescribed Lansaprazole a couple...Hi all..... I was prescribed Lansaprazole a couple of months back to line my stomach whilst on a course of oral steroid to control my recently diagnosed RA. I was told to take them with the steroids for 7 weeks then discontinue both. This was all advised via a phone call due to Covid, with no explanation of either drug, potential side effects, and advice that both drugs need to be tapered off slowly due to the possibility of severe withdrawal. So I just stopped taking both after the 7 weeks passed and then the fun started.... I became so anxious, nauseous, lost appetite, extreme fatigue, heart palpitations, inner trembling, severe dry mouth, and acid reflux symptoms which I never had prior to taking the medication..... I had absolutely no idea what was happening to me and at one point had to call an ambulance as sheer panic took over... I was told I was having panic attacks again something I have never experienced before this medication... I was so ill in bed for 2 weeks and again I had a text consultation by my doctor to advise to go back on the PPI for a further 8 weeks... innocently I did as I was advised and almost immediately after restarting them I had the same symptoms as when I stopped taking them, seems by body can’t tolerate the PPI or withdrawing from them.... at this point I started to research this medication and was angered and shocked with what I found.... I decided there and then to wean myself off the PPI.... I was take 30g daily, so first week I opened the capsules and took 25% out, second week 50% out and third week stopped taking them.... I am now 8 days without PPI.... the road has not been a pleasant one with burning I have never experienced, constant nausea and bedridden, but no worse than the side effects I was getting whilst in them... I think I am slowly starting to see some improvement but symptoms just hit me like waves throughout the day especially the nausea but I am starting to sleep better.... I just wanted to say thank you to people who take time to write their experiences and share them.... without this I was beginning to doubt my sanity..... wishing you all best of health and luck.Ryshta123https://www.blogger.com/profile/07339723030233003144noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8489367258569570619.post-12118534099749938752020-09-11T09:44:25.799-07:002020-09-11T09:44:25.799-07:00I stopped taking Omeprazole a week ago and I start...I stopped taking Omeprazole a week ago and I started getting really itchy from head to toe the last couple of days. I’m on week six of a taper down off of my PPI And have been experiencing them on and off. I did a taper down from 40mg. Two weeks On 20mg, 2 weeks 20mg every other day, and now on my second week of 20mg every 3 days. The heart palpitations started around the end of week 3-4. I’ve been to the dr, had an EKG and blood work. All looked ok. Just wondering if anyone else has started to feel better after time. Absolutely no side effects aside from acid reflux for a few days. last week I went from 20mg to 10mg and wham I have had pretty bad anxiety after changing from 20mg to 10mg. Here is the thing that boggles me. All of us tapper down everytime we take medication. if you take 40mg of PPI, then at some point your body will have 30mg, and then 20, etc. so I believe that although I can blame the PPI for my anxiety, I think the anxiety stems from somewhere else. Just my 2 cents. Omeprazole caused me nausea and Esomeprazole panic attacks. I chose to take omeprazole, thinking that when I would stop it, nausea would go away. How wrong I was. I took it for 3 months and I have been off omeprazole for a month now and my nausea is awful. It awakes me in the night, is very intense in the morning and stays there 24/7.
